Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking an experienced API Platform Engineer to lead enterprise API modernization, API gateway design, and GraphQL strategy across Apigee OPDK, Apigee Hybrid, and Apollo Federation.

You will drive security, automation with GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes, and IaC, and mentor engineers while partnering with Architects, Security, and Infrastructure to deliver scalable, reliable platforms.

This hybrid role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three days a week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years in an IT environment.
• 7+ years in design, development and support of technology infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical SME for enterprise API ecosystem across Apigee and GraphQL platforms.
• Design secure, scalable API gateway solutions for critical business apps.
• Lead API platform modernization including migrations to cloud-native platforms.
• Drive GraphQL strategy using Apollo Federation and Router with governance.
• Implement API security controls: OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS, traffic management.
• Automate deployments with GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes, Helm, Ansible, and IaC.
• Improve reliability with monitoring, observability, and incident response.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with Architects, Security, Infrastructure teams.
