Job summary

Northwell seeks an API-focused engineer to design, implement, and optimize APIs across cloud and on-premises systems. You will guide integration, ensure reliability, and contribute to platform health with strong technical leadership.

You will collaborate across teams, leverage Apigee, Azure services, and Datadog for monitoring, tracing, and performance improvements, delivering scalable, secure APIs for healthcare workloads.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• 3–5 years of API engineering experience.
• Experience with Apigee API Management platform.

Responsibilities

• Designs and develops solutions independently or with a team; writes reliable, efficient code.
• Produces technical documents such as a design specification document.
• Uses relational databases and data storage solutions.
• Works with Azure services (Functions, Logic Apps, App Services, Containers, Cosmos DB).
• Implements messaging patterns for system-to-system communication.
• Ensures applications are performing at high capacity, responsiveness, and quality.
• Finds solutions to reduce issues and defects.
• Keeps platform code and data organized and automated.
• Mentors junior team members on software design and best practices.
• Handles moderately complex to complex issues with thorough analysis.
• Performs related duties under the ADA.
