Job summary

Everforth Apex is seeking a Senior API Engineer to secure REST APIs and modernize the Java stack across multiple repositories. You will implement authentication controls, document changes, and validate production readiness while collaborating with security and platform teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on modernization, API security, and thorough testing, with opportunities to contribute to deployment and hypercare activities in a remote US setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
• 5+ years of enterprise API/backend engineering experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Secure REST APIs and configure OAuth 2.0, JWT roles, scopes, and claims.
• Upgrade applications through modernization path: Gradle 8.x, Spring Boot 3.x, Java 21, Gradle 9.x.
• Resolve compatibility issues from framework/library upgrades.
• Update OpenAPI 3 specifications and deprecate legacy endpoints.
• Implement application logging and SIEM integration.
• Develop and maintain automated unit, integration, and API security tests.
• Resolve defects during testing and deployment validation.
• Support deployment and hypercare activities.
