Job summary

Everforth Apex is seeking a Senior API Engineer to join our remote-first team supporting an enterprise API security modernization program. You will secure REST APIs, upgrade Java stacks and implement OAuth 2.0 and JWT-based access controls across multiple repositories.

You will collaborate with security and platform teams, update OpenAPI specifications, and deliver automated tests and documentation to production readiness. This role offers a strong focus on production quality and career growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/engineering/IS preferred.
• 5+ years of enterprise API/backend engineering experience preferred.
• Hands-on modernization and security expertise required.

Responsibilities

• Assess repositories and secure REST APIs; configure OAuth 2.0, JWT roles, scopes, and claims.
• Upgrade applications through modernization path: Gradle 8.x, Spring Boot 3.x, Java 21, Gradle 9.x.
• Resolve compatibility issues from framework/library upgrades.
• Update OpenAPI specifications and deprecate legacy endpoints.
• Implement application logging and SIEM integration.
• Develop and maintain automated unit/integration/API security tests.
• Support testing, deployment validation, and hypercare activities.
• Document implementation evidence and participate in standups.
