Job summary

Kalepa is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build external-facing APIs that power insurers’ core workflows. You will translate product requirements into reliable business logic, optimize databases and queries for scale, and integrate with a wide range of third-party services.

You’ll collaborate with a global team of engineers across data, ML, and DevOps to deliver fast, stable, and scalable backend solutions while taking ownership of complex problems and driving them to completion.

Qualifications

• Have 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally with time spent building external-facing APIs or designing integrations with 3rd party systems.
• Take full ownership of your work and drive projects to completion with minimal oversight.
• Communicate proactively, surfacing blockers and keeping stakeholders in the loop.
• Thrive on experimentation: test ideas, measure results, and iterate on tough problems.
• Strong fundamentals in system design, debugging, and problem-solving.
• Know Python (main stack) or equivalent OO language.
