Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Senior Manager, Accounts Payable — Compute in San Francisco. You will own payment readiness, manage complex supplier obligations, and lead cross-functional coordination across Finance, Procurement, Treasury, Tax, and Systems partners in a hybrid work model.

You will translate contract terms into payment requirements, handle disputes, and drive workflow improvements to raise controls, service, and capacity across compute AP.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in AP, payments, or related finance operations.
• Strong judgment on controls, segregation of duties, supplier verification, reconciliations, and close support.
• Ability to interpret complex pricing, capacity, credits, billing, and payment terms.

Responsibilities

• Own compute invoice-to-payment operating plan, material exceptions, and supplier escalations.
• Translate contracts and amendments into invoice-validation, PO/change-order, approval, control, and payment requirements.
• Investigate discrepancies, supplier disputes, missing credits, and PO coverage gaps across ERP systems.
• Lead a payment-readiness cadence across Compute Finance and Accounting teams; track owners, deadlines, and escalations.
• Set validation tolerances, escalation thresholds, and evidence requirements with partners; preserve segregation of duties.
• Coordinate funding forecasts and close-period payments with Treasury and reconcile aging for complete cutoffs.
• Map workload by task and complexity; assign work to staff or shared-service teams; ensure coverage and backups.
• Drive a roadmap for workflow and AI improvements; lead testing and adoption with Finance Systems.
