Job Details
We are seeking a Senior AP & Financial Analyst to join our Finance Department. AP is the foundation of this role today. You’ll own the full accounts payable function, bring a currently manual process under control, and help lead its transition to automation. You’ll also contribute to the month-end close. As automation creates capacity, the role intentionally expands into accounts receivable, general ledger analysis, expense controls, budgeting, and trend analysis. This role is ideal for a strong AP or accounting professional who is ready to grow into analysis.
Accounts Payable (Core Focus):
- Own full-cycle accounts payable, processing and analyzing invoices accurately and on time.
- Review invoices for appropriate documentation and approval before payment.
- Prioritize invoices by discount potential and agreed-upon payment terms.
- Code invoices correctly, following standard procedures, for accurate entry into the financial system.
- Break down complex invoices and allocate costs accurately based on monthly census and volume data.
- Handle vendor correspondence by phone and email, and investigate and resolve invoice issues.
- Voucher approved invoices into the payables system and schedule payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements, then research and correct discrepancies.
- Maintain the vendor master file and prepare annual 1099 filings.
- Validate documentation and create journal entries for the corporate credit card program.
- Handle incoming mail and general AP administration.
- Partner with leadership to identify, design, and implement AP automation and process improvements.
Accounts Receivable (Growth Area, preferred):
- Calculate and communicate private pay and patient-responsibility amounts.
- Invoice and apply cash receipts for private pay, patient pay, and miscellaneous transactions.
Financial Analysis (Growth Area):
- Help develop the annual operating budget by department, location, and service line.
- Analyze actual results against budget and prior-year performance.
- Identify unfavorable variances, emerging trends, and corrective actions.
- Support scenario modeling for staffing, volume, reimbursement, and operating expenses.
- Perform general ledger analysis, expense controls, and spend trend analysis.
- Communicate findings clearly and proactively with staff and leaders.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business, or Economics required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of AP or general accounting experience with strong foundational accounting skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with Sage or Paycor is a plus.
- Healthcare industry experience preferred.
- Interest in growing from transactional accounting into financial analysis.
- Excited about automation and process improvement; open to change, with a high capacity to learn.
- Big-picture thinking with the discipline to execute the details.
- Comfort with ambiguity and gray-area decisions; able to work independently when the situation calls for it.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for occasional local travel between locations.
- Must meet organizational health requirements, including required immunizations, subject to approved medical or religious accommodations and applicable law.
- Background check and drug screen required.
