Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer – Ansible to drive automation across Infrastructure, Platforms & Operations. You will design, implement and maintain end-to-end automation using Ansible, Python, and RESTful APIs in complex, secure enterprise environments.

The role requires strong experience with Linux/Unix, Windows, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), and modern CI/CD practices. US citizenship and ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years with BS/BA; 6 years with MS/MA; 3 years with PhD
• Extensive experience in end-to-end enterprise software development life cycle, automation including maintenance and support
• Advanced Ansible Expertise: playbooks, roles, modules and workflows for complex environments
• Scripting Proficiency: Python, Bash, or PowerShell for custom automation
• API Development and Integration: RESTful APIs with FastAPI/Flask for orchestrating workflows
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): version control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing
• Multi-Platform Knowledge: Linux/Unix, Windows, AWS/Azure
• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field or equivalent experience
• Experience with automation orchestration platforms (ServiceNow, ARIA) a plus
• Agile/Scaled Agile experience; security and banking environment knowledge a plus
• US Citizenship required; Public Trust clearance eligibility may be needed

Responsibilities

• Develop automation solutions using Ansible playbooks, roles, modules and workflows
• Create advanced automation scripts in Python, Bash, or PowerShell
• Develop RESTful APIs (FastAPI, Flask) to orchestrate workflows
• Build and optimize IaC with CI/CD and automated testing
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile environments
• Ensure secure coding practices compliant with security policies
• Provide runbooks, documentation and knowledge base articles
• Support automations and participate in on-call rotation
• Stay current with emerging automation technologies
