Job summary

CIS Secure is seeking a Senior Android Platform Developer to advance the altOS platform, a security-hardened Android distribution. The role focuses on developing, customizing, and maintaining secure Android software for mobile devices, collaborating with server and application teams.

The position emphasizes hands-on coding in Java/C/C++, AOSP, and ROM porting, with a remote work setup and a strong emphasis on security practices and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• University degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent
• Minimum of five years of experience in Android-related product development
• Experience compiling, modifying, and installing AOSP
• Experience with Linux OS development and debugging
• Experience porting Android ROMs and contributing to open-source Android distributions
• Experience with Android SDK and Android Studio
• Experience with Git or other source control
• Proficiency in Java, C, and C++

Responsibilities

• Support and extend altOS, our security-focused Android distribution
• Design and build advanced Android apps that extend the base OS
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and ship features
• Perform product design, bug verification, and beta projects on a custom ROM
• Develop OS and Android framework features not possible in standard apps
• Continuously evaluate new technologies to improve development efficiency
