Job summary

Strava seeks a Senior Android Engineer to join the Trust & Safety engineering team. You will own Android features, collaborate with Product, Design, and back-end engineers, and contribute to a safe, scalable mobile experience for millions of athletes.

You will work in a flexible hybrid model with on-site presence in our San Francisco office three days per week, and mentor peers to uphold Android quality across Strava.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building Android apps in production using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Familiarity with Coroutines and Room, and experience designing or consuming REST or GraphQL APIs.
• Strong Android fundamentals including architecture patterns, performance, and testing, with end-to-end shipping.
• Product-focused mindset; collaborate to solve real business problems, not just tickets.
• Interest or willingness to grow into server-side and web frontend work as scope expands.

Responsibilities

• Own Android on the Trust & Safety team, setting technical direction and shipping features for millions of athletes.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and back-end/iOS engineers to build solutions like abuse reporting, privacy controls, and the U18 experience.
• Work in a hybrid environment with a close community of peers.
• Mentor engineers via code reviews, pair programming, and setting Android quality standards across the company.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate building and shipping software.
• Grow into back-end and front-end work over time as scope expands.
