Job summary

Bumble is seeking a Senior Android Software Engineer in Austin to shape the dating experience. You’ll own end-to-end Android features, mentor engineers, and contribute to architecture in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll work with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, MVVM/MVI and modern Android practices, collaborating with product and design to ship scalable, high-quality mobile experiences. This role requires 5+ years shipping production Android apps and a passion for quality, performance and user-centric

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience building and shipping production Android apps.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android development practices.
• Experience with UI using Jetpack Compose and XML views.
• Experience designing Android architectures (MVVM, MVI, Clean) in medium-to-large codebases.
• Solid understanding of Android fundamentals: lifecycle, threading, performance, memory.
• Experience integrating networked APIs and offline considerations.
• Owns features end-to-end from design to release.
• Excellent communication and collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Bumble Android features using scalable, secure, and reliable code.
• Drive complex features from inception to delivery, owning the full SDLC.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineers to ship improvements.
• Evaluate AI tools to enhance productivity and code quality.
• Lead architecture discussions and propose scalable technical solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers through pairing, reviews, and guidance.
• Help establish engineering standards and best practices.
