Job summary

Medium is seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer to own the Android experience end-to-end and collaborate across platforms. You’ll shape what gets built, work with designers and engineers in the US and France, and ensure features ship with quality and performance in mind.

You’ll contribute to product thinking, mentor the team on code quality, and participate in biannual in-person offsites. A distributed, remote-first culture is central to Medium's approach.

Qualifications

• Several years of production Android app experience with Kotlin and modern Android tooling.
• Ability to own features end-to-end, from problem framing to shipping and monitoring impact.
• Experience collaborating with designers and engineers across platforms (web/iOS/backend).

Responsibilities

• Own Android features end-to-end from ideation to shipping and validation.
• Push back on scope and propose simpler, higher-impact solutions.
• Write idiomatic Kotlin and Compose UI aligned with existing architecture.
• Collaborate with iOS, web, or backend engineers as needed for a feature.
• Partner with leadership, design, and engineers across the US and FR to ship Android features.
• Provide judgment in ambiguity and propose practical first steps.
• Influence product and feature spaces to maintain momentum.
• Contribute to code quality, testing, and overall product thinking.
• Attend Medium's biannual in-person offsites in the U.S.
