Job summary

Apium Swarm Robotics (ASR) seeks a senior Android developer to own operator-facing applications for drone swarms. You will design GIS-rich planning and control interfaces on Android tablets and rugged devices, integrating DTED, map data, and real-time telemetry to deliver a clear tactical picture.

You will work with backend and field engineers to ship features tested in the field, with travel for demonstrations, field exercises, and live deployments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years Android development, Kotlin preferred.
• Experience with mobile GIS: map tiles, overlays, and coordinate systems.
• Proficient in DTED elevation data usage for terrain features.
• UI design for rugged devices: sunlight visibility, gloves, unreliable networks.
• Experience building real-time, low-latency data pipelines (sockets, MQTT, gRPC).
• Able to collaborate across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Android operator-facing apps for swarm planning and control.
• Integrate GIS layers and DTED elevation models into map interfaces.
• Implement real-time telemetry and command/control over UDP, TCP, WebSockets, MQTT, or similar.
• Collaborate with autonomy, backend, and field teams to ship field-ready features.
