Job summary

Citi is seeking a Senior Digital Android Engineer to act as the senior technical authority for Android development. You will lead architecture and delivery of the flagship mobile banking app used by millions worldwide, coordinating across product, design, and backend teams to deliver scalable, high-quality experiences.

You will mentor engineers, elevate engineering standards, and drive performance and security improvements across the Android platform in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience building native Android applications.
• Expert command of Kotlin and modern Android architecture patterns.
• Deep hands-on knowledge of the Android SDK, Android Studio, and Gradle.
• Experience with Jetpack libraries and Jetpack Compose for production-scale UIs.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve performance issues in production apps.
• Track record of shipping or maintaining an app on Google Play Store.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Architect and lead end-to-end design and development of major Android features.
• Set direction on Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and modern Android tech stack.
• Define engineering standards for code quality, testing, and performance.
• Coach and mentor junior and mid-level Android engineers.
• Collaborate with product, UI/UX, and backend teams to translate requirements.
• Optimize memory, battery, and runtime performance for a smooth user experience.
• Improve development processes to increase velocity and time-to-production.
• Assess risk and ensure security, compliance, and platform reliability.
