Job summary

Kohl's is seeking a data scientist to build best-in-class data science tools powering next-gen applications. You will apply ML/AI to new CRM-use cases and develop explainer models for year-over-year drivers like pricing, promotions, and media, while guiding tests and stakeholder communication.

The role requires 5+ years of analytics experience, proficiency in Python/R/SAS, and a strong foundation in predictive modeling for marketing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in quantitative areas such as Applied Mathematics, Data Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant analytics experience.
• Experience coding in general-purpose languages (Python, R, SAS).
• Experience with developing and scaling predictive models and optimization algorithms for marketing use cases.

Responsibilities

• Use AI/ML to explore new opportunities at Kohl’s, including causal models for promo-calendar decisions, gen-AI copilots for insight discovery and explainer models that break down year-over-year performance drivers like pricing, promotions and media.
• Guide store performance driving tactics leveraging store performance explainer models (including labor optimization).
• Oversee the activation of tests, ensuring essential model runs, segmentation and timelines are provided to key stakeholders.
• Ensure relevant analytics assets and tests are documented and insights are captured.
• Manage and influence direct reports, systems and projects to achieve unit goals per Kohl’s policies and practices.
• Provide leadership by exhibiting influence and expertise and driving results.
• Create and promote an effective work environment by developing a common vision, setting clear objectives, expecting teamwork, recognizing outstanding performance and maintaining open communications.
• Develop staff through coaching, providing performance feedback, providing effective performance assessments and establishing performance and development plans.
• Influence, collaborate and partner with teams and leaders across the organization.
