Job summary

Kohl’s is seeking a Data Scientist who will collaborate with a data science team and cross-functional partners to solve business challenges and promote data-driven decision making with advanced data analysis and machine learning.

You will lead exploratory data analysis, develop and deploy ML models, and translate data insights into business value. The role emphasizes experimentation, scalability, and mentoring junior data scientists in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Data Science, CS, Statistics, Applied Math) or equivalent.
• 3+ years of progressively complex data science experience.
• Extensive experience developing and deploying state-of-the-art algorithms using ML, statistics and optimization.
• Expert in using modern analytics tools, programming languages and cloud platforms (Python, R, Spark, SQL, GCP, etc.).
• Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.
• Experience proposing rapid experiments to test new strategies and iterate quickly.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills at all levels.

Accountabilities

• Understand business challenges and their conversion into optimization problems, focusing on defining objectives and adhering to business constraints such as budget limitations and sell-through rates
• Perform large-scale optimization and statistical analysis in areas of web analytics, forecasting, supply chain management, pricing and inventory management
• Perform tuning of models by adjusting objective functions, constraints, etc.

• Experience using commercial or open-source optimization tools (Gurobi, Pyomo, CPLEX, etc.)
