Job summary

Premier Truck Rental (PTR) is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to lead the transformation layer powering PTR's analytics. You will build dbt models, Sigma datasets, and semantic structures while collaborating with Data Engineering, Data Architecture, and the BI team to deliver scalable, governed data assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Analytics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of analytics engineering, data engineering, or ELT/data modeling, with senior ownership of a transformation layer.
• Advanced, production-level expertise with dbt for building, testing, and documenting models.
• Strong SQL proficiency for performance-tuned querying and transformation.
• Deep experience with a modern cloud data warehouse (Snowflake strongly preferred).
• Proven expertise in dimensional/data modeling and semantic-layer design.
• Experience with Fivetran and workflow orchestration tools like Astronomer.
• Hands-on experience with version control and CI/CD for data workflows.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and lead design/code reviews.
• Strong communication and collaboration across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the core dbt models and Sigma datasets/semantic models used across PTR.
• Own enterprise shared dimensions (customer, GL, time, territory, etc.).
• Tune Snowflake performance and optimize SQL transformations.
• Establish testing, documentation, and data quality standards in dbt.
• Mentor Analytics Engineer I and junior engineers on modeling patterns and conventions.
• Partner with BI analysts to translate dashboard requirements into robust datasets.
• Maintain clear documentation of models and transformation logic with CI/CD practices.
• Identify opportunities to automate processes and reduce technical debt.
