Job summary

Valon Technologies is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to own client reporting data models and pipelines. The role sits at the intersection of analytics and data engineering, ensuring data is production-grade, auditable, and accessible across the organization and to customers.

You will lead client reporting, standardize data modeling, and manage analytical workflows while providing hands-on analytical support for reporting and performance management.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of combined experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a highly technical data analytics role.
• SQL is required; Python and modern data stack tools (dbt, Airflow) are essential.
• Strong communication with external clients and clear requirement synthesis.
• Knowledge of data architecture patterns (e.g., medallion) and data quality/observability frameworks.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Hex, Looker) and proficiency in Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel.
• Strong product mindset focused on usability, reliability, and developer experience.
• Ability to solve complex problems independently and build repeatable processes.

Responsibilities

• Client Reporting & Infrastructure: Scope and develop new client reports and maintain existing pipelines.
• Data Modeling & Transformation: Design and maintain production-grade data models and analytical layers using BigQuery, dbt, and Airflow.
• Data Governance & Quality: Define data contracts and observability to ensure data quality and auditability.
• Analytical Support: Write complex SQL queries, build dashboards, and conduct ad hoc analyses for leaders.
