Job summary

Total Wine & More is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to join our Data Services team in Bethesda, MD. You will bridge data engineering and analysis, building scalable, well-documented data models that empower merchandising, supply chain, marketing, and e-commerce.

You will design modular data models using dbt, own semantic layers, ensure data governance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve tooling and data quality. The role reports to the Senior Director, BI & Data Platform.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years experience in analytics engineering, data modeling, or BI development.
• Expert-level SQL skills and strong experience with dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar modern data stack tools.
• Familiarity with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and data testing frameworks (dbt tests, Great Expectations).
• Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT best practices.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a large, matrixed organization.
• Exposure to data visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust, modular data models using dbt for self-service analytics.
• Partner with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to translate business logic into data transformations.
• Own and optimize semantic layers and data marts powering dashboards and KPIs.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance across domains like sales, inventory, and loyalty.
• Collaborate with data platform teams to improve tooling, observability, and performance.
• Contribute to documentation and data literacy efforts.
