Job summary

CarMax is seeking a data-focused professional to support personalization data science initiatives in the Richmond area. You will analyze vast behavioral data, support ML model development, and design rigorous statistical tests that influence product decisions.

Embedded with data scientists and ML engineers, you will learn how models are built, shape what we test, and communicate insights to product and executive stakeholders while helping maintain dashboards and metrics over time.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in an analytical role, preferably in e-commerce or data-heavy environment.
• Strong SQL and Python experience for data manipulation and analysis.
• Solid foundation in statistics and experimental design; able to explain test significance.

Responsibilities

• Analyze large-scale behavioral data to surface customer insights and system performance.
• Design and interpret A/B tests and holdout experiments.
• Partner with data scientists on model development and monitoring.
• Translate findings into clear narratives for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain dashboards to track key metrics over time.
• Collaborate with Product, Strategy, Technology, and Operations teams.
