Job summary

CarMax is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead the Logistics Modeling team in Richmond, VA. You will develop optimal planning strategies, build AI-powered models, and drive cross‑functional initiatives to optimize vehicle moves across our nationwide network.

You will mentor a team of 4–7 data scientists, translate business needs into actionable analytics, and collaborate with IT and field teams to deploy scalable solutions that save millions annually.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in quantitative discipline; advanced degree a plus.
• 4+ years in strategy, analytics and/or data science.
• Mathematical, modeling and reasoning skills to build complex planning models.

Responsibilities

• Develop optimal planning strategies that meet both short and long term business objectives.
• Lead development of optimization strategies and models for logistics planning.
• Communicate analytic plans to senior stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.
