Job summary

Abbott in Austin, Texas seeks a seasoned Contract Specialist to partner with Sales, Pricing and Legal to drive contract excellence, pricing integrity, and risk mitigation. You will own end-to-end contract creation and negotiation with internal and external stakeholders.

The role requires 5–7 years of experience, a Bachelor’s degree, and strong skills in pricing analysis, negotiation, and professional communication. Travel up to 5% may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with Sales, Sales Management, Sales Operations, Commercial Excellence, Pricing, Marketing, Customer Service, Finance, OEC, and Legal to maximize sales and profit performance and minimize risk
  • Partner with the sales team to manage customer contracts and pricing against contractual requirements
  • Own contract creation from development through execution using internal Abbott, external customer, and custom templates
  • Work within contract and pricing approval guidelines and seek approvals for exceptions
  • Understand contractual obligations and their impacts on contracting processes and products
  • Review and redline business contract terms and coordinate internal review of customer edits
  • Determine appropriate departments for reviewing extended terms, explain customer requests and associated risks, and incorporate responses into contracts
  • Negotiate contractual terms with internal and external customers
  • Execute formal requests for proposals (RFPs) and requests for information (RFIs)
  • Support the Team Group Lead and Contract Manager with price approval requests, basic pricing analyses, and contract creation and maintenance
  • Train sales teams on requirements, policies, and procedures
  • Resolve complex customer requests using critical thinking and problem-solving
  • Communicate professionally with internal stakeholders and customers
  • Participate in special projects and other assigned duties

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 5–7 years of combined experience in business, accounting, or finance
  • In-depth understanding of complex business issues involving GPOs and IDNs
  • Experience with pricing adjustments, financial analysis, contracts, and contractual requirements
  • Ability to review and redline business contract terms
  • Ability to coordinate contract edits with internal stakeholders and applicable departments
  • Ability to negotiate contractual terms with internal and external customers
  • Ability to work under customer-driven deadlines, multitask, and manage competing priorities
