Job summary

Washington Nationals in Washington, DC are seeking a Senior Analyst, Player Projections – Amateur Acquisitions to build models predicting draft-eligible players’ performance and support acquisition decisions.

You will develop high-quality data pipelines, integrate research, and communicate insights to scouts and leadership to improve organizational decision making. Strong programming in Python/R and statistical modeling are required; a deep interest in amateur baseball is valued.

Qualifications

• High-stakes decision-making under uncertainty.
• Programming (Python, R, etc.) and AI agent integration.
• Statistical modeling, forecasting, and probabilistic programming (using Stan, PyMC, etc.).
• Machine learning methods and model evaluation.
• Data engineering and pipelining (SQL, etc.).
• Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders about baseball research.
• Deep interest in amateur baseball (college baseball, HS showcases, draft structure, etc.).
• Excellent communication, project/product management, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and highly confidential environment.

Responsibilities

• Build models to explain and predict performance of draft-eligible players.
• Engage with scouts and leadership to improve organizational decision making.
• Develop data pipelines for Amateur Draft analytics.
• Incorporate advantage-seeking research into forecasts.
• Ensure forecasts impact on-field outcomes.
