Job summary

Edward Jones in the United States is seeking a Senior Analyst to support Controllership for our Canadian Trust Company, focusing on monthly close, policy research, and financial reporting.   • Ability to communicate complex ideas to teams and partners.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion, SQL or Power BI is a plus.

  • Execute monthly financial close responsibilities, including reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts, variance documentation, and internal controls.
  • Develop and perform complex analysis.
  • Record, report, analyze and communicate the firm's financial and operating results.
  • Research and implement technical accounting policy.
  • Apply new perspectives to solve complex problems.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams responsible for finance objectives and projects.
  • Identify efficiencies and drive implementation of solutions.

Overview

Finance is seeking a Senior Analyst to support the Accounting Department in a variety of controllership capabilities for our Canadian Trust Company, including accounting, analysis, and financial reporting. This role is part of an area responsible for recording, analyzing, and reporting the firm’s current financial and operating performance. We maintain control over the integrity of the firm’s results while delivering business insights to support key decision making. We also maintain ownership for researching, establishing and upholding the accounting policies of the firm. Recurring responsibilities for this role include supporting the monthly close cycle, financial reporting, setting policies, research, analysis, as well as other project‑based work. In addition, this role will support our multi‑year finance transformation journey including adoption of leading cloud‑based technology solutions. We’re looking for a detail‑oriented candidate with proactive problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently while maintaining clear communication with leadership and stakeholders.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and manage business relationships within and outside the organization to gather critical information and influence key decisions
What Experience You Need
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of accounting principles and their application
  • Researching, recommending a position on, and implementation of accounting policies
  • Experience with General ledger, ERP and chart of accounts
  • Self-starter who delivers timely and accurate results, makes effective decisions, and generates innovative solutions
  • Strong problem‑solving acumen, comfort with ambiguity, and ability to overcome challenges
  • Communication of complex ideas effectively to team members and business partners using verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement in processes and implement solutions
  • Ability to identify critical tasks, sequence work, prioritize, identify dependencies and decisions needed to achieve an end deliverable
  • Works efficiently both independently and in a team environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint capabilities including pivot tables, charting, formulas, and conditional formatting
