Job summary

Tyson is seeking an experienced technician to lead and perform day-to-day operation, maintenance, and project coordination for ammonia refrigeration systems. The role combines hands-on work with leadership in safety and regulatory compliance (OSHA/EPA/IIAR).

Qualifications

• 5+ years industrial ammonia refrigeration experience required.
• Associates degree or refrigeration/mechanical certifications preferred.
• IIAR Ammonia Refrigeration training preferred is advantageous.
• RETA/CIRO/CRST license preferred or willing to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain compressors, pumps, purger rebuilds, valve stations and related controls to meet production needs.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control faults using root-cause analysis.
• Plan ammonia pump-outs, evacuations, and commissioning tasks; prepare P&ID redlines.
• Manage deliveries and containment, oversee oil removal and safety relief valve changes.
• Perform preventative maintenance and document CMMS entries for work orders and inspections.
• Train and mentor technicians; assign work and verify repair quality.
• Support PSM and IIAR compliance through SOP reviews and audits.
