Mercury is building a complete finance stack for startups. The AML Investigator III role is remote, with locations Anywhere in the World and Remote within United States, offering USD 109,500 - 152,100 per year.

You will help detect suspicious activity, conduct investigations, and draft Unusual Activity Reports, partnering with banks and internal teams to ensure smart, risk-based monitoring and thorough case management.

Qualifications

• Experience identifying money laundering or fraud in banking, fintech, or financial services through vendor and in-house transaction monitoring rules
• Fluent in the language of bank transactions (ACH, check, debit, credit, wire transfers), domestic and international
• Understanding the business banking landscape and familiarity with international activity and ownership
• Empathy and clarity in communication, with users and partners
• Efficient, organized, and proactive in work habits
• Love problem solving and making teams and processes more efficient

Responsibilities

• Provide input as new transaction monitoring rules are implemented and tuned
• Review AML and other alerts in the monitoring queue and take action
• Contact users for information on account usage and transactions
• Collaborate with partners and internal teams to review information received from users
• Investigate RFIs from partner banks and deliver clear AML reviews
• Decide on user accounts including locking or closing where appropriate
• Document findings and elevate unusual activity to partners for SAR consideration
• Develop an eye for potential fraud or money laundering and improve tools
• Write documentation on processes and train teammates
