Job summary

Kastech Software Solutions Group is seeking a senior AMI architect in Los Angeles to lead end-to-end AMI/smart metering solutions. You will design UHES integrations, coordinate with MDM/CIS data flows, and drive enterprise-grade security and performance requirements.

The role requires deep knowledge of AMI ecosystems and modern cloud architectures to support scalable deployments and grid analytics in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in utility technology with 5+ years architecting or leading AMI/smart metering solutions in production at scale.
• Hands-on experience with a Universal Head End System (UHES) — designing, deploying, or operating a multi-vendor head end.
• Deep knowledge of AMI ecosystems: Itron, Landis+Gyr, Sensus, Aclara, or Honeywell/Elster.
• Strong grasp of AMI comms: RF mesh, licensed/unlicensed PM, cellular, PLC, with trade-offs.
• Experience integrating head end with MDM and CIS/billing systems (interval data, VEE, remote control).
• Understanding metering: interval vs. register data, TOU, revenue-grade accuracy, events/alarms.
• Ability to define enterprise-level non-functional requirements (scale, HA/DR, security).
• Excellent communication for technical and executive discussions.
