Senior Ambulatory Care Nurse - Wound Center

Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Ambulatory Care Nurse - Wound Center. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out patient care responsibilities with emphasis on decision-making related to the steps in the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, expected outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Provides competent, safe, and compassionate care based on established NYU Langone Health Patient Care and Nursing Standards. As a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, formulates the initial plan of care with the provider (physicians or nurse practitioner) and collaborates with them to implement a comprehensive patient-centered plan of care to achieve expected outcomes.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Provides staff educational in-services and instructs classes in BCLS for staff. Serves as a support and resource for clinical staff including Medical Assistants and students.
  2. Collects patient healthcare data systematically and on an ongoing basis using appropriate assessment techniques and instruments.
  3. Analyzes assessment data to determine diagnoses.
  4. Identifies expected outcomes and anticipates adverse outcomes as individualized to the patient.
  5. Provides emergency care in accordance with the center's policy.
  6. Develops a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  7. Implements interventions identified in the plan of care.
  8. Evaluates the patient's progress toward attainment of expected outcomes.
  9. Educates the patient and family to facilitate and promote healthy adjustment to new or changed health patterns.
  10. Considers the needs and behaviors of specific patient age and cultural groups in all patient care activities.
  11. Supports the mission, philosophy, standards, goals, and objectives of the institution, Department of Nursing, and service line.
  12. Participates in coordination of unit activities to provide patient care in a healing, humane, and caring environment.
  13. Collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team and promotes collegial relationships.
  14. Demonstrates knowledge of NYULH Service Standards and incorporates into responsibilities.
  15. Participates in activities related to standards and regulations of relevant outside agencies.
  16. Functions as a respectful member of the healthcare team.
  17. Maintains current knowledge and competence to fulfill responsibilities.
  18. Engages in self-assessment and participates in activities to promote professional growth and development.
  19. Serves as a support and resource for staff and students.
  20. Utilizes resources to meet individual learning needs and promote professional development.
  21. Participates in quality and performance improvement programs.
  22. Maintains awareness of current evidence-based practices and uses research data applicable to patient care.
  23. Participates in clinical inquiry and activities to foster evidence-based practice.
  24. Participates in quality improvement activities that promote satisfaction among patients, families, physicians, and staff.
  25. Coordinates clinical schedules and oversees coverage for procedures, testing, triaging, screenings, and visits.
  26. Evaluates and monitors department competencies and performance; responsible for clinical compliance.
  27. Performs other duties as needed.
Additional Responsibilities

Senior Ambulatory Registered Nurse at the Hyperbaric and Advanced Wound Healing Center will have additional duties as outlined in the policy for the Hyperbaric Center.

Minimum Qualifications

Baccalaureate degree in Nursing highly preferred; Diploma or Associate Degree requires at least one year of experience and plans to earn a baccalaureate degree. Current NYS Registered Nurse licensure, BCLS, and ACLS certifications are required. ER or critical care experience and membership in professional organizations are preferred. Must be fluent in English. Physical stamina and manual dexterity required. Minimum of 3 years RN experience.

Preferred Qualifications

ACLS certification

Qualified candidates must communicate effectively at all organizational levels.

Additional Information
