Job summary

Fortem Technologies Inc. in Lindon, Utah is seeking an experienced Senior Algorithms Engineer focused on radar signal processing and target detection/tracking.

The role involves designing, maintaining, and improving a variety of radar algorithms, with on-site work only. You will implement these algorithms on embedded hardware using C++, validate them with real-world data, and collaborate with the DroneHunter and SkyDome teams to ensure requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Experimental Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a closely related field.
• Strong experience with radar algorithms (e.g. MTI, beamforming, CFAR, detection) and MTI experience is a plus.
• Experience with embedded hardware and C++ development.
• Rapid numerical prototyping in Python.

Responsibilities

• Design and validate radar signal processing algorithms for improved target detection and tracking.
• Implement algorithms on embedded hardware with timing and resource constraints using C++.
• Develop test cases using real-world data to validate algorithm efficacy and iterate the design.
• Collaborate with DroneHunter and SkyDome teams to ensure radar output meets requirements.
• Derive and develop metrics to evaluate performance.
• Engage in signal processing, machine learning, and estimation tasks as needed.
• Support Fortem Technologies in ongoing engineering efforts.

Description

The Algorithm team at Fortem is looking for an experienced Senior Algorithms Engineer with a passion for solving difficult problems. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for designing, maintaining, and improving a variety of radar algorithms, with a focus on those related to radar signal processing and target detection/tracking. This is an 100% on-site position and U.S. Citizenship is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Design andvalidateeffective and efficient signal processing algorithmsto improvetarget detection and tracking
• Implement those algorithms on embedded hardware with timing and resourceutilizationconstraints (primarily using C++)
• Develop test cases using real-world data tovalidatethe efficacy of the algorithms and iterate the design process based on deficiencies.
• Work with theDroneHunterandSkyDomeapplication teams to ensure that the radar output meets their requirements
• Derive and develop metrics to evaluate the performance.
• Signal processing, machine learning,andestimationtasks as needed.
• Other engineering activities and tasks to support the success and growth ofFortemTechnologies, Inc.

Requirements

• Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Experimental Physics, Mathematics,
• Computer Science or a closely related field
• Strong experience and familiarity with radar algorithms (e.g. phased array processing, beamforming, MIMO, MUSIC, STAP, CFAR, detection), especially those related to Moving Target Indication (MTI)
• Experience with radar-based multiple target tracking is a plus

Knowledge of and experience with the following:

• Digital signal processing and numerical analysis (e.g., Fourier transforms, digital filters, linear algebra, optimization)
• Rapid numerical prototyping in Python
• Programming in C++
• Programming in Cuda is a plus
• Radar simulation
