Caterpillar in Lafayette, IN is hiring a Senior Design Engineer for Air Systems to lead NPI/CPI component design across engine platforms and collaborate with global teams. You will guide conceptual and detailed design, coordinate with suppliers, and drive validation to ensure robust performance.

Role requires strong CAD skills, engine system knowledge, and the ability to communicate technical information clearly. Relocation may be available; travel is limited to ensure successful validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering or similar.
• Experience with engine component design and CAD tools is preferred.
• Top candidates will have experience with Teamcenter, ProE/CREO and related software.

Responsibilities

• Create and support detailed air systems designs for intake, exhaust, crankcase ventilation and heat shields.
• Collaborate with engine platform teams, purchasing and manufacturing; support prototype material procurement.
• Review project results with management through design reviews and stakeholder updates.
• Support field validation activities and address warranty issues; ensure on-engine fit-ups.
