Job summary

Invenergy LLC is seeking an Air Permitting Manager in Chicago to lead permitting for greenfield and brownfield power projects. You will interface with consultants and agencies, evaluate technologies, and drive regulatory submissions across the project lifecycle.

Minimum qualifications include a engineering degree and 5+ years in air permitting, plus willingness to travel up to 25% of the time. The role offers a base salary with a substantial annual bonus and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field of study.
• 5+ years of experience in a similar role and industry.
• Familiarity with utility-scale major and minor source air permitting requirements for thermal energy production and operation.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ready to travel up to 25% to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Manage the air permitting process for portfolio of development, construction, and operation projects.
• Serve as primary interface with consultants and state/federal agencies for Clean Air Act Major New Source Review, Prevention of Significant Deterioration, and Nonattainment New Source Review programs.
• Evaluate available thermal power generation technologies to meet market needs, including dispatchable natural gas or fuel oil options and carbon capture.
• Support market entry analysis, site evaluation, permit ability and acquisition.
• Perform and manage internal and external resource activities, such as data verification, memos, customer consultation, site requirements, regulatory submittals, engineering, and environmental permitting.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Procurement teams on equipment specifications.
• Report and execute project management throughout the project development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with Government Affairs and Regulatory team to understand key market drivers on air permitting.
• Represent Invenergy LLC with customers, state and local officials, industry associations, and other stakeholders.
