Job summary

Invenergy LLC in Chicago is seeking a Project Engineer, Electrical Engineering to oversee electrical engineering and construction for thermal generation projects, including natural gas turbines and combined cycle plants. You will support internal teams or external firms to deliver final design packages ready for construction.

The role requires HV/MV expertise, experience with electrical drawings, and collaboration with suppliers, contractors, and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems.
• 3+ years of relevant work experience, including internships.
• Knowledge of power systems from coursework or internships.
• Understanding of HV/MV electrical infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Travel up to 25%.
• Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing project-specific construction, engineering, and equipment specifications.
• Assist in developing new projects by analyzing conceptual designs against requirements.
• Prepare and validate electrical energy calculations.
• Review electrical drawings: BOP, switchyard, transmission line.
• Define scope of electrical system studies and review results.
• Track design schedules and communicate progress to stakeholders.
• Support project close out with as-built documentation transfer.
• Coordinate with operations to incorporate lessons learned into designs.
• Attend on-site meetings with contractors and interconnection utilities.
• Perform factory inspections and witness factory acceptance testing.
