Job summary

Thomson Reuters is expanding its cyber defense capabilities with a Distinguished Engineer focused on AI threat defense. You will be a senior technical authority embedded within the Cyber Defense organization, driving AI strategy and hands-on detection within SOC and CIRT.

This role emphasizes deep AI security expertise, mentorship without direct reports, and collaboration with Security Engineering, Architecture, Product Engineering, and AppSec to embed security across the software lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 12+ years progressive cybersecurity engineering experience in a large enterprise.
• Hands-on knowledge of AI-specific attack vectors and defensive architectures.
• Production experience governing AI systems, agentic infrastructure, MCP or equivalent integration patterns.
• Proven experience delivering AI-assisted detection and response within a mature 24/7 SOC and/or CIRT.
• Experience enhancing an established security organization rather than building a new function from scratch.
• Ability to influence technical teams through credibility rather than direct reporting authority.

Responsibilities

• Own AI threat defense strategy against AI-specific attack vectors.
• Define standards for securing AI infrastructure in collaboration with Security Engineering & Architecture.
• Drive monitoring and defenses for AI-specific threat classes including prompt injections, jailbreaking, data leakage, and model manipulation.
• Build AI-augmented detection content and analytics for AI-specific attack patterns and integrate with SIEM/SOC.
• Develop AI-assisted playbooks and runbooks and integrate into CIRT and SOAR workflows.
• Serve as the principal technical architect for incorporating AI into the existing 24/7 SOC and CIRT.
• Mentor engineers and analysts while influencing across SOC Operations, CIRT, and Threat Detection Engineering.
