Job summary

EY seeks an AI Systems Engineer to own the stateful backbone of EY’s AI-native platform, spanning relational, vector, and object stores, plus streaming and CDC pipelines. You’ll ensure durability, consistency, and recoverability across cloud, on-prem, edge, and air-gapped environments.

You’ll work with Kafka, NATS, Debezium, Flink, and schema governance, driving multi-tenant isolation, automation, and data contracts across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 8+ years operating production data infrastructure, streaming systems, or database platforms at scale.
• Hands-on with PostgreSQL and caching (Redis/Valkey), including HA, replication, and backup/recovery.
• Exposure to AI/ML data patterns — embeddings, retrieval, feature/state stores.
• Production experience with vector/graph databases (Qdrant, Milvus, PGVector, Neo4j).
• Deep experience with event streaming and messaging (Kafka/Strimzi, NATS) and CDC (Debezium).
• Experience with stream processing (Flink) and schema governance (CloudEvents, registry).
• Kubernetes with persistent volumes and object/storage like MinIO/OpenEBS.

Responsibilities

• Own memory and data stores: relational and durable state across environments.
• Own event streaming and async messaging using Kafka, NATS JetStream, Debezium and Flink.
• Own data durability, consistency, and recoverability with cross-environment movement and RPO/RTO.
• Build and operate streaming and CDC pipelines with schema governance.
• Ensure multi-tenant isolation and portable state across cloud and OSS in air-gapped environments.
• Provide data and lineage substrate for governance, observability, and AI capabilities.
