Job summary

EY is seeking an AI Systems Engineer to own the stateful backbone of EY’s AI-native platform, managing data stores, memory tiers, and event streaming across cloud, on-prem, edge, and air-gapped environments. You will ensure durability, consistency, and recoverability for agentic AI workloads in regulated client contexts.

The role emphasizes multi-tenant, portable state across environments, with ownership of relational, vector, graph, and object storage, plus streaming and CDC pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 8+ years operating production data infrastructure, streaming systems, or database platforms at scale.
• Hands-on PostgreSQL and caching (Redis/Valkey) with HA, replication, and backup/recovery.
• Exposure to AI/ML data patterns — embeddings, retrieval, feature/state stores.
• Experience with vector/graph databases (Qdrant, Milvus, PGVector, Neo4j) in AI/ML contexts.
• Deep experience with event streaming/messaging (Kafka/Strimzi, NATS) and CDC (Debezium).
• Experience with stream processing (Flink) and schema governance (CloudEvents, registry).
• Experience running stateful systems on Kubernetes (operators, PVs, MinIO/OpenEBS).
• Ability to define ownership boundaries and data/schema contracts with multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Own memory and data stores: relational, durable state, caching, vector/graph stores, object storage across environments.
• Own event streaming and async messaging: Kafka/Strimzi, NATS JetStream, Debezium, Flink, Apicurio/CloudEvents.
• Own data durability, consistency, recovery: replication, backup/restore, point-in-time recovery, cross-environment movement.
• Build and operate streaming and CDC pipelines with schema governance to prevent breaking changes.
• Make state multi-tenant and portable, ensuring isolation and performance across cloud/on-prem/air-gapped.
• Provide data and lineage substrate for governance, observability, and AI knowledge capabilities.
