Job summary

Groundswell is looking for an engineer who can turn ambiguous business problems into working AI solutions, and who recognizes when AI is not the answer. This client‑facing, hands‑on role spans the full lifecycle from discovery through production, with governance, logging, and measurable success criteria.

You will work across client delivery, internal product development, rapid proofs of concept, and internal enablement, collaborating with engineers, executives, and end users to drive practical,

Qualifications

• 7+ years building and shipping production software.
• Hands-on experience building applications that integrate large language models and retrieval‑augmented generation.
• Experience evaluating AI system quality with metrics and test sets.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery with stakeholders to understand workflow and success criteria.
• Define measurable success criteria before building.
• Recommend against AI when a simpler solution is better.
• Select AI patterns appropriate to the problem and design production pipelines.
• Make architecture decisions considering quality, cost, latency, and security.
• Build complete capability including prompts, tools, APIs, data handling, and UI.
• Develop evaluation sets and iterate based on results.
• Operationalize capabilities with governance, logging, and traceability.
• Produce client-facing documentation and design rationale.
• Mentor engineers and share reusable patterns with the team.
