Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Principal AI Software Developer to join the Air Traffic Business Area within the Homeland Sector, supporting the Leidos Common Automation Platform (L-CAP). Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years of experience building production software and microservices.
• Proficiency in Java or C++ with production-grade systems experience.
• Designing and developing microservices-based applications.
• Strong RESTful API design and distributed systems knowledge.
• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices experience.
• Experience with relational (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Git-based collaborative workflows; Agile/SAFe familiarity; debugging and analytical skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Preferred: Python, Docker/Kubernetes, AWS/Azure, Kafka, and AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop microservices that form the backbone of L-CAP automation platform.
• Collaborate with architects to translate system designs into robust implementations.
• Implement RESTful APIs and event-driven integrations in a hybrid cloud data mesh.
• Integrate with PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, and Cassandra for data consistency.
• Perform performance tuning for distributed services and lead code reviews.
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across services, APIs, and infrastructure layers.
• Contribute to design docs, API specs, and runbooks; participate in SAFe ceremonies.
