Job summary

General Motors in Warren, MI seeks a Senior Software Engineer to develop AI-enabled data-intensive applications supporting Product Development and Quality teams. You will design data pipelines, APIs, and services using Java, Python, SQL, and Databricks, with a focus on performance and reliability.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with data science teams to productionize AI/ML solutions, and help shape patterns for cloud and DevOps practices across GM standards.

Qualifications

• 6+ years delivering enterprise or full stack software solutions using Java/JEE and Python.
• 3+ years working with complex SQL queries, functions, and stored procedures.
• Experience building data pipelines and ETL/ELT on distributed or cloud platforms (Databricks, Spark).
• 3+ years with Kubernetes/Docker, Quarkus, and cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience in Agile/SCRUM development, backlog refinement, and incremental delivery.
• Hands-on DevOps experience (Git/GitHub, code reviews, automated builds/tests, CI/CD).
• Willingness to learn AI concepts and work with AI/ML and LLM integrations.
• Strong problem solving, written and verbal communication, and ownership mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain AI-enabled data-driven applications for Product Development and Quality teams.
• Write high-quality SQL for complex transformations across enterprise data platforms.
• Build and optimize data pipelines in Databricks and related tools for batch and near real-time processing.
• Develop backend services and APIs in Java and Python integrating data, rules, and workflows.
• Develop enterprise applications using Kubernetes/Docker, Quarkus, Java, Angular, PostgreSQL; integrate GM approved tools.
• Collaborate with data science to productionize AI/ML/LLM solutions and monitor performance.
• Lead design discussions; ensure code quality, reviews, testing, CI/CD, observability, and secure coding practices.
• Guide and mentor engineers; document solutions per GM standards for cross-team use.
• Navigate corporate processes to remove roadblocks and keep delivery on track.
