Job summary

The Phoenix Group is seeking an experienced AI Software Engineer to design and deliver AI-powered applications for production environments in Redwood City. You will own projects end-to-end, partnering with technical and business teams to build scalable, reliable systems that deliver measurable value.

This senior individual contributor role requires independence, strong architectural judgment, and the ability to move ambiguous ideas into production-ready solutions with minimal direction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years designing, developing, deploying production software.
• Strong foundation in software engineering, OOP, architecture, algorithms, and testing.
• Experience with Python, C#, .NET, and front-end tech like TypeScript/React.
• Experience operating production applications with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and incident management.
• Hands-on AI or large language model solutions in enterprise environments.
• Familiarity with Azure AI services; AWS or Google Cloud experience is a plus.
• Ability to translate business objectives into technical solutions.
• Strong organizational skills with multi-priority delivery.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full software development lifecycle for AI initiatives, including requirements, architecture, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and enhancements.
• Collaborate with partners to automate workflows and implement AI-driven solutions to improve efficiency.
• Design and develop agent-based applications with memory, retrieval, tool integration, and governance.
• Develop secure APIs, backend services, and user interfaces for AI capabilities.
• Deploy AI workloads in Azure, managing model selection, evaluation, deployment, and lifecycle.
• Establish testing strategies and performance metrics to improve model quality and reliability.
• Troubleshoot issues, optimize system performance, and resolve production incidents.
• Collaborate with security, compliance, and infra teams on governance and data protection.
• Produce technical documentation covering architecture and operations.
• Promote engineering best practices through code reviews and disciplined development.
