Job summary

Zscaler seeks a Senior Software Development Engineer-AI Security to join our hybrid team in San Jose, CA or Bellevue, WA. You will build a high‑reliability AI security solution, scale to hundreds of millions of users, and collaborate across the development lifecycle under the Emerging Tech department's Director of Software Engineering.

You'll design core infrastructure components, improve security capabilities for AI, and work with stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in Rust and familiarity with lower‑level languages such as C/C++.
• Strong knowledge of system and network programming including firewalls, VPNs, protocols, TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, QUIC, HTTP/3, and proxies.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-performance networking code for multiple desktop platforms using Rust and platform-native APIs.
• Improve code quality through well-documented, testable software foundations.
• Design and implement major projects focused on scalability, security, and performance.
• Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to deliver customer-impacting features.
• Debug and solve complex network-related problems and enhance system functionality.
