Job summary

Cogent Security in San Francisco is hiring a Senior Security Engineer, Product Security to own the security of the software we build. You’ll partner with engineering to embed security into the SDLC, safeguard dependencies, and ensure a secure foundation for customer products.

As an early security hire, you will influence product decisions, build automation, and drive threat modeling, code scanning, and supply-chain security across the stack.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of security engineering experience in product/application security.
• Hands-on engineer who ships and automates.
• Deep software engineering skills across the stack (Python, Go, TypeScript).
• Strong understanding of secure SDLC, threat modeling, code scanning, and supply-chain security.
• Familiarity with AI landscape and security implications for AI/ML products.

Responsibilities

• Embed security into the software development lifecycle; perform threat modeling and secure design reviews.
• Own application security testing (code review, SAST/DAST) and drive remediation.
• Harden the software supply chain; manage dependency verification and CI/CD security.
• Build and automate security tooling and guardrails to scale with engineering.
• Serve as internal security SME on product decisions and act as an early security user.
