Job summary

Cogent is hiring a Senior Security Engineer, Product Security to embed security into the SDLC and secure our software and supply chain. You will partner with engineering to ship secure code and act as an internal SME shaping security-first product decisions.

With 5+ years in product security, you will drive threat modeling, code scanning, and security tooling, while navigating startup growth and high ownership expectations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of security engineering in product/security
• Hands-on engineer who ships and automates
• Strong programming across stack: Python/Go/TypeScript
• Deep knowledge of secure SDLC, threat modeling, and supply-chain security
• Aware of AI landscape and security implications
• Able to work in a startup with high ownership

Responsibilities

• Embed security into the SDLC—threat modeling, design reviews, secure-coding guidance
• Own application security testing—code review, SAST/DAST, triage and remediation
• Harden software supply chain—dependency verification and safe management
• Build and automate security tooling and guardrails at scale
• Serve as internal security SME on product decisions and as an early user
• Collaborate across teams to make security a default, not an afterthought
