Job summary

Pearson is seeking an experienced AI platform leader to design, build, and operate production AI capabilities that power learner intelligence, personalization, and knowledge graphs across Pearson products.

You will advance Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, and agentic AI, establish scalable MLOps/AIOps practices, and mentor engineers and data scientists while partnering with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to deliver measurable product impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, AI/ML or equivalent.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with product, engineering and business stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Python and modern software engineering practices (APIs, testing, CI/CD, version control).
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS or similar) and production AI platforms.
• Hands-on experience with AI frameworks, foundation models, and deployment architectures.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, deployment, and operation of production AI capabilities for learner intelligence, personalization, and recommendations.
• Design and deliver Generative AI, LLM, RAG, and agentic AI solutions with measurable business impact.
• Build reusable AI platform components and workflows to accelerate adoption across Pearson products.
• Own end-to-end AI delivery lifecycle from prototyping to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Establish scalable MLOps and AIOps practices for training, deployment, observability, governance, and cost control.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Design, Learning Science, and Data Science to identify opportunities and deliver AI capabilities.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and architectures balancing quality, safety, scalability, latency, and cost.
• Establish best practices for responsible AI, model evaluation, prompt engineering, and governance.
• Mentor engineers and data scientists to elevate AI engineering capabilities across the organization.
• Communicate strategy, architecture decisions, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders.
