Job summary

Weedmaps is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the AI Platform, remote in the U.S. to build our AI agents and the brain behind them.

You will work on an autonomous coding agent that operates via Jira and Slack, handle embedding-based retrieval, and extend our MCP server with reusable skills and tools. You will own evaluation pipelines, optimize cost and latency on AWS Bedrock, and harden systems against prompt injections and permission issues while mentoring colleagues and shaping design

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of professional software development experience, including owning production services end to end.
• At least 1 year of hands-on experience shipping LLM-powered features or agents to production.
• Experience building retrieval systems: embeddings, vector or hybrid search, chunking and ranking.
• Strong proficiency in Python, TypeScript or Ruby, and comfort with a polyglot codebase.
• Experience with a major cloud platform (AWS preferred), CI/CD, and observability tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate production AI agents, including an autonomous coding agent that works from Jira and Slack, opens PRs, fixes its own CI failures and applies review feedback.
• Build the retrieval and context layer behind our AI brain: embeddings, semantic search and a knowledge-graph model integrated with Snowflake and internal docs.
• Extend the MCP server with shared skills, tools and processes that other teams can reuse.
• Own evaluation: build offline test sets and online metrics, gate releases on them.
• Drive cost and latency down: route work to the cheapest model, use caching and structured outputs, track spend on AWS Bedrock.
• Harden agents against prompt injection, memory poisoning and over-broad permissions with least-privilege access and auditable actions.
• Instrument agents with tracing and logging and participate in on-call for the systems you own.
• Evaluate new models and tools with a practical eye and share what works.
• Write design docs, review code, and mentor other engineers on building with LLMs.
