Job summary

Seneca Resources is seeking a Senior AI Platform & Services Engineer for the State of Alabama's Office of Information Technology in Montgomery, AL. This hands-on role focuses on engineering, administering, and optimizing enterprise AI platforms supporting leading AI ecosystems.

You will establish security controls, governance, and scalable patterns while mentoring engineers and collaborating with cybersecurity, cloud, and data teams in a regulated government environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4–7+ years in cloud engineering, systems engineering, DevOps, or security engineering.
• 2+ years of direct experience with AI, Generative AI, or enterprise AI platforms preferred.
• Proven expertise in enterprise cloud/SaaS platforms, integrations, APIs, and IAM solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across applications, cloud services, and data access layers.
• Ability to translate architecture and compliance requirements into effective technical controls.
• Hands-on experience in platform administration and troubleshooting of complex enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, administer, and enhance enterprise AI platforms and supporting services.
• Provide technical leadership across OpenAI/ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, and related AI ecosystems.
• Design APIs, connectors, AI agents, orchestration solutions, and enterprise integrations for scalable AI applications.
• Develop platform standards for environments, access controls, onboarding, deployments, and lifecycle management.
• Implement security best practices including SSO, RBAC, privileged access, secrets management, and least privilege principles.
• Translate security, privacy, compliance, and governance requirements into effective technical controls.
• Evaluate AI data flows, model interactions, and integrations for potential risks and dependencies.
• Establish monitoring, logging, alerting, and cost management strategies for AI services.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for platform, API, authentication, data access, and performance issues.
• Explore, test, and support new AI platforms, models, and features, including integration and release planning.
• Document architecture, configuration standards, operational procedures, and incident escalation paths.
• Develop automation solutions to improve system reliability, observability, and governance.
• Mentor and guide AI platform engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams including cybersecurity, cloud, and legal.
