Job summary

Seneca Resources is seeking a Senior AI Platform & Services Engineer in Montgomery, AL to engineer, administer, and optimize enterprise AI platforms supporting OpenAI/ChatGPT, Copilot, and Gemini. You'll define patterns, security controls, and governance while leading cross‑functional teams across cybersecurity, cloud, and data disciplines.

You will mentor engineers, tackle complex issues, and help advance enterprise AI capabilities in a regulated government environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or equivalent
• 4–7+ years in cloud/sys/devops/security engineering
• 2+ years with AI or enterprise AI platforms preferred
• Experience with enterprise cloud/SaaS platforms, integrations, APIs, IAM
• Strong troubleshooting across apps, cloud services, and data access
• Translate architecture and compliance requirements into controls
• Hands-on platform administration and troubleshooting of complex systems

Position Description: Join the State of Alabama’s Office of Information Technology as a Senior AI Platform & Services Engineer. In this hands‑on, critical role, you will engineer, administer, and optimize enterprise AI platforms supporting OpenAI/ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Google Gemini. You’ll define technical patterns, establish operational standards, and implement security and governance controls to ensure reliable, secure AI services across the organization. Lead complex troubleshooting, mentor engineering team members, and collaborate across cybersecurity, cloud, and data teams to advance AI capabilities in a regulated government environment. Key Responsibilities:

• Engineer, administer, and enhance enterprise AI platforms and supporting services.
• Provide technical leadership across OpenAI/ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, and related AI ecosystems.
• Design APIs, connectors, AI agents, orchestration solutions, and enterprise integrations for scalable AI applications.
• Develop platform standards for environments, access controls, onboarding, deployments, and lifecycle management.
• Implement security best practices including SSO, RBAC, privileged access, secrets management, and least privilege principles.
• Translate security, privacy, compliance, and governance requirements into effective technical controls.
• Evaluate AI data flows, model interactions, and integrations for potential risks and dependencies.
• Establish monitoring, logging, alerting, and cost management strategies for AI services.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for platform, API, authentication, data access, and performance issues.
• Explore, test, and support new AI platforms, models, and features, including integration and release planning.
• Document architecture, configuration standards, operational procedures, and incident escalation paths.
• Develop automation solutions to improve system reliability, observability, and governance.
• Mentor and guide AI platform engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams including cybersecurity, cloud, and legal.

Top Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4–7+ years in cloud engineering, systems engineering, DevOps, enterprise application administration, or security engineering.
• 2+ years of direct experience with AI, Generative AI, or enterprise AI platforms preferred.
• Proven expertise in enterprise cloud/SaaS platforms, integrations, APIs, and IAM solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across applications, cloud services, and data access layers.
• Ability to translate architecture and compliance requirements into effective technical controls.
• Hands‑on experience in platform administration and troubleshooting of complex enterprise systems.

Preferred Skills & Technologies:

• Experience with OpenAI/ChatGPT APIs, Microsoft AI tools, or Google Cloud AI services.
• Knowledge of AI agents, RAG, knowledge integrations, tool calling, or API orchestration.
• Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, REST APIs, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure as code.
• Expertise with IAM solutions such as Microsoft Entra ID, OAuth/OIDC, SAML, RBAC, and secrets management.
• Understanding of AI governance, security, privacy, DLP, logging, and compliance protocols.
• Familiarity with ITSM processes in large, regulated environments.
