Job summary

Acuity Brands, Inc. in the Denver/Boulder area is seeking a senior platform engineer to build and operate internal AI productivity tools and agents. You will work with a small, senior team to enable engineers and product teams, balancing hands-on development with developer relations.

You will define metrics, govern internal tooling, and collaborate with Security and IT to ensure secure deployment. The role emphasizes governance, scalability, and cross-team impact.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with platform-focus.
• Hands-on experience with agentic development and multi-agent systems.
• Experience with AI evaluation and benchmarking; proficient in prompt engineering.
• Knowledge of AI security/governance, especially for internal tooling.
• Proven track record delivering multi-month projects largely independently.
• Ability to design reusable platform abstractions and balance flexibility vs standardization.
• Excellent collaboration with Security and IT teams and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain internal AI productivity tools and the platform for distribution across engineering and product teams.
• Design, build, and operate internal AI agents and automations (standalone or embedded).
• Define productivity metrics and evaluate tools/agents against them, iterating based on results.
• Own AI governance for internal tooling, including guardrails, access controls, and deployment standards.
• Partner with Security and IT to enable AI tooling adoption and clear pathways.
• Manage identity and access for AI agents with the same rigor as human accounts.
• Lead training and enablement sessions to help engineers and PMs derive value from the tools.
• Treat adoption as an engineering problem; track outcomes and iterate the platform accordingly.
• Collaborate with teams building AI-powered product features without owning their roadmap.
