Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. in Jersey City seeks an experienced engineer to drive AI Foundation Services, building scalable platform components and APIs used by multiple teams.

You will guide adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices and deliver secure, production-ready software across the stack. You will lead design, implementation, testing, and deployment of cloud-native solutions, collaborating with product, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• Strong hands-on coding experience in Python, Java, or Go delivering production-grade services or APIs.
• Experience building shared services, reusable components, or platform capabilities.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and cloud-native delivery practices (Terraform, containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD).
• Led the use of AI-assisted development tools with validation for correctness, performance, and security.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI in engineering workflows; secure handling and compliance coaching.
• Hands-on experience with system design, development, automated testing, debugging, and operations.
• Experience implementing observability, logging, metrics, alerts, SLIs/SLOs, and incident response.
• Depth in cloud platforms, AI/ML platforms, distributed systems, or infra engineering.
• Ability to break down requirements into executable tasks and deliver milestones with teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication, explaining decisions, trade-offs, risks.

Responsibilities

• Partners with LoB application teams to implement AI Foundation Services for GenAI/AI use cases, from design to early ops.
• Builds and enhances platform services, APIs, SDKs, and libraries for model hosting, inference, and AI/ML services.
• Translates requirements into designs, engineering tasks, and delivery milestones with support from senior staff.
• Develops secure, high-quality production code; participates in code reviews, testing, and remediation.
• Creates reusable engineering assets like reference implementations, runbooks, and onboarding guides.
• Drives adoption of enterprise AI-assisted engineering practices to improve quality and speed.
• Uses SDLC tools to improve automation value realization.
• Designs scalable components using cloud-native patterns and platform standards.
• Collaborates across product, architecture, security, infra, and app teams to deliver production-ready capabilities.
• Contributes to technical methods, standards, docs, and implementation patterns to boost consistency and reuse.
• Communicates progress, risks, dependencies, and options to managers, product partners, and senior stakeholders.
