Job summary

Vanguard in Malvern, PA is seeking a Principal AI Engineer to lead enterprise-scale AI architecture, productionizing cutting-edge research and driving reliable, scalable AI platforms. You will mentor engineers, set engineering standards, and collaborate with researchers to turn prototypes into client-ready solutions.

You will oversee model serving, deployment pipelines, and observability while guiding responsible AI practices across the organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software, ML, or AI engineering.
• Deep expertise deploying large-scale AI/ML systems in production.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives from concept to production.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, reliability engineering, observability, DevOps, and cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the technical architecture for enterprise-scale AI and ML platforms.
• Partner with researchers to transform prototypes into production-grade solutions.
• Drive AI infrastructure, model serving, inference optimization, and scalability.
• Own operational excellence, reliability, performance, and incident response for AI products.
• Mentor engineers and lead reviews to raise standards in production AI systems.
• Represent the team as a thought leader in scalable AI deployment and responsible AI practices.
