Job summary

Mastercard Inc. in the United States seeks a Lead AI Platform Engineer to design, implement, and operate scalable AI platforms across public and private clouds. You will own MLOps capabilities, guide architecture, and mentor engineers while partnering with product and security teams.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, building, and operating cloud-native platforms in enterprises.
• Strong experience delivering solutions across public and private clouds.
• Experience deploying containerized workloads with Kubernetes or OpenShift.
• Advanced software engineering and automation with Python.
• Experience leading design and delivery of complex initiatives across teams.
• CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, DevOps practices.
• Experience designing or supporting production AI, ML, data platforms, or distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of MLOps, model lifecycle, and AI system operations.
• Experience implementing telemetry, monitoring, logging, and analytics.
• Ability to diagnose issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive improvements.
• Ability to assess architecture options and influence cross-functional decisions.
• Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience guiding or mentoring other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and operation of enterprise platforms for ML, generative AI, agentic AI, and analytics workloads.
• Translate requirements into scalable platform solutions and implementation approaches.
• Design AI/ML systems meeting security, reliability, availability, and performance needs.
• Own delivery across public and private clouds, manage dependencies, and influence decisions.
• Build services/workflows enabling onboarding, development, deployment, and lifecycle management.
• Develop tooling and services for model training, evaluation, deployment, and governance.
• Lead repeatable, secure MLOps capabilities and AI development workflows.
• Build data ingestion/feature engineering workflows for training and inference.
• Design observability including telemetry, monitoring, logging, alerting, and drift detection.
• Ensure operational stability and scalability of AI platforms.
• Lead troubleshooting and incident response, translating lessons into improvements.
• Influence platform architecture through reviews, prototypes, and trade-off analysis.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to enable adoption and delivery.
• Coordinate with security, governance, and risk teams to meet enterprise standards.
• Evaluate emerging AI tech and influence Mastercard's AI roadmap.
• Promote IaC, CI/CD, automated testing, and documentation best practices.
• Mentor engineers through guidance, reviews, and knowledge sharing.
